RON PAUL ON MARRIAGE & HOMOSEXUAL AGENDA

This is perhaps the issue Dr. Paul is most maligned for. Usually out of ignorance, though sometimes with malicious intent, many detractors accuse Dr. Ron Paul of supporting homosexual marriage. His own words show that he does not - though he does support freedom and limiting federal gov't to only those areas assigned to it by the constitution (and marriage is not one of them).

http://caucuses.desmoinesregister.com/2011/06/13/ron-paul-in-his-own-words-on-the-irs-tsa-marriage-abortion/

RON PAUL on GAY MARRIAGE: “Personally, I totally reject it. The whole idea of marriage should be between a man and a woman."

BTW, He gave that interview minutes after posing for the photo with me in Iowa. Additionally, from his latest book, "Liberty Defined", p. 185:

"I personally identify with the dictionary definition of marriage: 'The social institution under which a man and a woman establish their decision to live together as husband and wife by legal commitments or religious ceremony.'"

This is balanced by freedom:

"Why not tolerate everybody's definition as long as neither side uses force to impose its views on the other? ... With a lot less government involvement in our lives, this needless problem could be easily avoided. The best approach is to make marriage a private matter."

In fact, if we get gov't out of marriage altogether (like it used to be), that removes the ability of the lavender lobby to use the funds and force of gov't to propagate their sodomite agenda. Getting gov't out of marriage would totally disarm the homosexual lobby. The rest of us might lose some tax credits, but those clearly come with strings attached that we'd be better off without.

Additionally, on the issue of homosexual rights:

Rep. Paul introduced the Family Protection Act:

http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d096%3AHR07955%3A%40%40%40D&summ2=m

It states explicitly, "Prohibits the expenditure of Federal funds to any organization which presents male or female homosexuality as an acceptable alternative life style or which suggest that it can be an acceptable life style."

Rep. Paul also voted for an amendment to prohibit federal funding from going towards foster care children adopted by unmarried same sex or heterosexual couples. The amendment specifies that no federal money will support “the joint adoption of a child between individuals who are not related by blood or marriage.”

DR. PAUL ON EVOLUTION

Here is another area where some have been mistaken about Dr. Paul's position, and even lied about it:

From this campaign (2011):

"There is one argument against evolution that deserves consideration. If man is evolving and progressing, why is man's involvement in mass killings of one another getting worse and the struggle for peace more difficult? Government wars and exterminations in the twentieth century reached 262 million people killed by their own governments and 44 million people killed in wars. I fear that doesn't say much for the evolutionary process." Rep. Dr. Ron Paul "Liberty Defined", 2011. p.107.

From last campaign (2008):

"I think that the creation has been brought here by God ... We're God's creatures ..." Rep. Dr. Ron Paul, interview with Janet Porter, 2008.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V4af9Q0Fa4Q (question starts at 2:40)

"There is a lot of debate on where does life come from. I have a personal belief, I believe each and every life comes from a Creator. ... "It’s a theory, the theory of evolution, and I don’t accept it ... I think that the Creator that I know, created us and created the universe." Rep. Dr. Ron Paul, post-debate interview 2008.

RON PAUL ON ISRAEL

This is another commonly misunderstood position. Dr. Paul is accused of being anti-Semitic or anti-Israel, when the truth is virtually opposite of that claim.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pyFosvHanBo

This puts the lie to the false claim that Dr. Paul is anti-Israel. Anti-Paul people need to learn the TRUTH before they start slinging accusations against him. What is it about FREEDOM and adhering to our CONSTITUTION that you are so against?

Dr. Paul wants to end ALL foreign aid on the correct grounds that it is unconstitutional. Being that we give Israel's enemies THREE TIMES as much foreign aid as we give Israel, this would benefit Israel as well as American taxpayers. Not only that, but America has been more of a hindrance to Israel than a help. We have prevented them from making peace treaties with countries we have issues with. We have prevented them from retaliating when they've been attacked. The best thing that we could do for ourselves, and for Israel, is to stop meddling in the Middle East.

http://www.americansforisrael.com/ - several good Ron Paul related articles.

http://www.thenewamerican.com/index.php/usnews/politics/6201-israeli-economists-agree-with-rand-paul-end-foreign-aid

The above is perhaps the definitive article. Although specifically dealing with Rand Paul, he shares his father's position. This shows that many prominent Israelis, including Benjamin Netanyahu, agree with the Pauls.

Ron Paul made this statement http://www.americansforisrael.com/archives/36 after Obama said that Israel should return to her 1967 borders:

“The President gave a speech today about our foreign policy in the Middle East, and once again this administration has proven that it does not understand a proper foreign policy for America. When will our leaders finally do what’s right for America and rethink this irrational approach we’ve followed for far too long?

Israel is our close friend. While President Obama’s demand that Israel make hard concessions in her border conflicts may very well be in her long-term interest, only Israel can make that determination on her own, without pressure from the United States or coercion by the United Nations.

Unlike this President, I do not believe it is our place to dictate how Israel runs her affairs. There can only be peace in the region if those sides work out their differences among one another. We should respect Israel’s sovereignty and not try to dictate her policy from Washington."

“I am not the only one who can see the absurdities of our foreign policy. We give $3 billion to Israel and $12 billion to her enemies. Most Americans know that makes no sense." - Ron Paul

DR. PAUL (OB-GYN) ON ABORTION

Many people misunderstand Dr. Paul's position on abortion and state's rights.

Dr. Paul has authored the "Sanctity of Life" bill, which would ensure the pre-born are considered legal "persons". This would render ALL abortion as murder.

He has also authored the "We the People" act which would allow states to outlaw abortion without interference from the federal gov't or the courts.

Currently abortion is determined at the federal level - and abortion is allowed in ALL 50 states. Giving the fedgov more power always backfires.

The benefit of the state's rights tack is that you don't have to support ANY abortion at all - other people might in their jurisdiction, but you don't have to at all. OTOH, with most of the bills out there, you are actually supporting abortion IF certain conditions are met (waiting period, parental knowledge, sees ultrasound, etc.)

For those who think Dr. Ron Paul (Ob-Gyn who has delivered over 4,000 babies) is not pro-life because he supports state's rights:

ALL violent crime has ALWAYS been handled at the state and local level. If your wife or daughter was raped (God forbid) would you call congress - or would you call your LOCAL police and prosecute in your LOCAL courts? Doe that make you pro-RAPE because you deal with it locally? Of course not. Neither does it make Dr. Paul pro-abortion for dealing with it at state level. In fact it is consistent to handle abortion just like any murder.

To put the final nail in the coffin of the false claim that Dr. Paul supports states making abortion legal:

http://www.personhoodusa.com/files/Keith%20Ashley/Ron%20Paul%20Personhood%20Statement_0.pdf

I believe the federal gov't has a role to play. I believe Roe v. Wade should be repealed. I believe federal law should declare that life begins at conception. And I believe states should regulate the enforcement of this law, as they do other laws against violence.... We should allow our republican system of gov't to function as our Founders designed it to: protect rights at the federal level, enforce laws against violence at the state level. - Dr. Ron Paul PersonhoodUSA pledge addendum

He does NOT want states to make abortion legal. He wants states to enforce that it is murder. In fact he says for a state to not do so would be a violation of Art. 4 Sec. 4 of the constitution.
