RON PAUL ON ISRAEL

This is another commonly misunderstood position. Dr. Paul is accused of being anti-Semitic or anti-Israel, when the truth is virtually opposite of that claim.

This puts the lie to the false claim that Dr. Paul is anti-Israel. Anti-Paul people need to learn the TRUTH before they start slinging accusations against him. What is it about FREEDOM and adhering to our CONSTITUTION that you are so against?

Dr. Paul wants to end ALL foreign aid on the correct grounds that it is unconstitutional. Being that we give Israel's enemies THREE TIMES as much foreign aid as we give Israel, this would benefit Israel as well as American taxpayers. Not only that, but America has been more of a hindrance to Israel than a help. We have prevented them from making peace treaties with countries we have issues with. We have prevented them from retaliating when they've been attacked. The best thing that we could do for ourselves, and for Israel, is to stop meddling in the Middle East.

The above is perhaps the definitive article. Although specifically dealing with Rand Paul, he shares his father's position. This shows that many prominent Israelis, including Benjamin Netanyahu, agree with the Pauls.

Ron Paul made this statement http://www.americansforisrael.com/archives/36 after Obama said that Israel should return to her 1967 borders:

“The President gave a speech today about our foreign policy in the Middle East, and once again this administration has proven that it does not understand a proper foreign policy for America. When will our leaders finally do what’s right for America and rethink this irrational approach we’ve followed for far too long?

Israel is our close friend. While President Obama’s demand that Israel make hard concessions in her border conflicts may very well be in her long-term interest, only Israel can make that determination on her own, without pressure from the United States or coercion by the United Nations.

Unlike this President, I do not believe it is our place to dictate how Israel runs her affairs. There can only be peace in the region if those sides work out their differences among one another. We should respect Israel’s sovereignty and not try to dictate her policy from Washington."

“I am not the only one who can see the absurdities of our foreign policy. We give $3 billion to Israel and $12 billion to her enemies. Most Americans know that makes no sense." - Ron Paul
